Star Wars XLVI: Rise of the Skywalker

It was ok. It turns out that Rey is genealogically important after all, and she goes through some adventures to eventually turn Kylo-Ren back to the good side of the Fource, and together they face the True Enemy who is of course someone you kind of expect but not really, but sort of. The Skywalkers and friends finally accomplish their generational mission of bringing galactic civilization to its knees. It's finally over, forever and finally ever and permanent-like.

Rating: 5/? It isn't actually out yet and I neither have seen it nor do I know what it's about, so I don't know what a fair rating would be.

I saw it. All I said above was correct. Except that it was ok, it was not. Big embarrassing mess. Rating: 2.5/10, 2 of those points are for Kylo Ren scenes, 0.5 is for Palpatine hanging off a big life support machine. 0 for all other elements.

Recommend: No, honestly I regret seeing it and it makes me sad to think about it.

Star Wars XIV: The Last Jedi

It was alright. Some parts of it were really good. I liked Force Leia a lot, I hear people did not like that part, but I thought it was beautiful. I liked this one better than the last "episode", because it had Luke Skywalker in it and I like him, and he did a good job here. I totally buy his resignation, and I liked his Last Trick. It's a movie about realism and failure and stupid decisions. Depressing in some ways, but so is life. The resistance failed; Luke Skywalker failed; everyone failed. Except Kylo Ren, who kind of succeeds, but his motivation seems to be simply "destroy destroy destroy", and even there he fails to destroy everything. Let's sell some toys!

Blade Runner 2049 score: 680/2049 (0.332). Weak recommend.

Blade Runner 2049

Best sci-fi movie ever! I mean, I'm not sure, but I can't think of one I liked better. It is great, I saw it twice in the theater. Better than the original in just about every way, except nothing like the Roy Batty monologue.

Highly recommend!

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Very disappointed. Basically a movie about Star Wars, rather than a Star Wars movie. Kind of a remake/remix of Episodes IV and V. Not as good as the best of the prequels. They should bring George Lucas back.

Recommend: Yeah, I guess.

Movie: Interstellar

Best sci-fi movie I've seen in some time, relativitly speaking.  The movie is a bit long though, almost 3 hours, or 50 years if your television is located closer to a black hole.  Bonus:  you get to visualize four dimensional space projected in the fifth dimension.

Recommend?  Yes, for dimensionality junkies.
